post-departure [ new year's eve ]

It is new year's eve and guess where I am... At home. Yup. 17 years in a row now :S

Well, not exactly.

I was at J's house with A, playing Wii previously, and almost done baking the cookies we had made, until my mum had to come pick me up (at 8:30). I repeatedly tell her that I will call her to pick me up, once the cookies were done, but NOOOOOOO....

This will turn into a rant post, I foresee :/

My mother is such a stubborn person.

Because she doesn't want to be alone on NYE, because she 'cannot' drive in the dark due to her 'bad eyesight', because she thinks the idea of staying at a friends house to countdown for the new year is stupid, she drags me into it.

I make myself sound like an ungrateful bitch, don't I?

I'm just sick of her (my mum's) stubborness. Just because she doesn't have friends (no, but as she says, she has 'many' friends but 'chooses' not to associate with them for some reason) doesn't mean I can't spend some time with mine? I mean, its the damn holidays, she (my friend) lives 10 minuets away and it's not like I freakin see her everyday goddamit = =''

Oh thats right. She never went to school. She does not understand the social values present in Australia (and having friends)...

I'm digging my grave aren't I?

Well, when your in the moment, and in this case, quite peeved off, what better way to relinquish this anger by narrating it out and getting rid of all those terrible feelings.

I guess if I should bring up the energy to post diary entries, recounting my time in Japan.

Yeh, I think that'd be a good idea. So I will always remember the events that happened then.

pre-departure [ packing ]

I can't believe it - time just flies by. I remember counting down two weeks ago, one week ago, 3 days ago... And now. By this time tomorrow, I'd have almost reached Japan.

Didn't go school today as I was packing lol. I also went plaza with R to look for some books I could buy my host family but I didn't end up getting it because I didn't have much money on me and I wasn't sure if they'd like it. I wanted to buy an English nursery rhyme book for the girls and a cookbook for the mum. But I also wanted a book about Australia but the plaza didn't sell it. Wish I knew so I could have went to kino or dymocks earlier. Ended up buying a pack of ANZAC biscuits for them and really cute aussie animal stickers LOL!

Aaaaaaaaaa..... Wish I bought more souvenirs for Japan. I wish I bought keychains end the like so I could give away :(

Hmm... Almost done packing... Decided not to bring black leather shoes because my suitcase is almost packed full and I haven't even packed my blazer yet! Guess I'll have to wear my sports shoes to school >___> I also need to remember to buy uwabaki once I get to Japan as well.

Man... My camera's memory card is only 1gb.... Thats not enough - no where near enough!!!! I'll have to put them on my USB every night or at least get on a comp and upload them so I can relinquish more room on my memory card.

A blog post has to have a picture. Or so I say :E

Yes.... Tim tams lol.. and plastic bags.... Wish I could fit more in, but sadly, it almost weighs 15kg. I'm sure alot of that will be gone once I give my bro his stuff when I meet him in Kyoto though. I wish I could have packed more clothes... I barely have enough! Plus I didn't even pack any coats for the freezing Japanese winter!! :(

Probably my last blog post in Australia. Hopefully I'll get a chance to hop on a computer in Japan.

Bon Voyage! See y'all (:

predeparture [ the past week ]

Several thing happened this week! We got the information about the host family we will be staying with and I finally sent my form for the travel insurance (better safe than sorry I guess lol).

All my assignments are due the follow week, and I've completed 2/3 so far. Half way done with my English one.

Ahhh gee... My head hurts. Little cousins came over today and I was in a pissy mood because I was busy (psh. Thats what I say moodily, but in reality I was procrastinating!). LOL. I feel so bad for always being pissy and moody when my relative comes. I need a personality adjustment ahahahaha. Most of the time I enjoy being solitary and without visitors, but think I'm a really nasty person either way :E

Anyway, about more important things...

I'll be staying in Tokai (東海村) while during my 5 day home stay in Japan, but commuting to school in Hitachi (日立). OMG! Can't wait~~~ I hope I'll be able to make some friends. I'll be sorta near M so maybe we can tryta meetup and karaoke LOL. Doubt it though since we'll both have to commute to Mito.

Man... I feel bad for ditching ameblo lol. I just cbf typing in Japanese. Been considering checking out Japanese cyworld but reading Japanese gives me headaches ahaha. I think my intelligence (or whatever intelligence I had lol) is beginning to drain.... I feel dumber, especially when it comes to Japanese. I just hope I'll actually spend time in the holidays trying to catch up...

Heading to city again tomorrow to buy a few more souvenirs. Planning to get some cute koala or kangaroo backpacks for my two little host sisters. I hope they'll like my pressies :3! They still haven't replied to my terribly written email though :(!

Gotta remember to buy locks for my luggage as well.

OFFICIALLY 4 DAYS LEFT TILL JAPAN!!!!!1 YAHOOOO!!!!

Imma go pack some more. Needa find out if I'll need space bags or not and I'll try to get some earlier sleep today.

predeparture [ more shopping ]

On Saturday I went to the JENESYS orentation with the others. I thought it was quite informative but it was a pain in the ass getting there (Hornsby) :E
Afterwards we went to eat in the city. I DIDN'T GET TO EAT AT PEPPERLUNCH AGAIN!!!
How many times have I passed it with Amy and Jessica? They all said they didn't care where they ate but nooooo. Not pepperlunch >:'|
Instead, the oh... usual market city food court = =''

Afterwards the others ditched us so A, J and me went shopping for some more pre-departure stuff. I bought a pair of jeans and a pair of (hella cute) converses. I'm gonna go back a buy some boyfriend jeans one day :3 Hmm... around $200-ish altogether... Man... That just took a big chunk out of my wallet, now I only have $500-ish to spend for Japan. And once converted to yen. Fuck man = ='' The exchange rate is so low *cries in a corner*

Hahaha. Amy said some stupid things today ;D On the train back we ninja-ed a photo of her. PS ftw >:D

Now it's your turn to PS, I insist!

Predeparture [ luggage ]

  • Hello Kitty Luggage from Target lmao. I had to get the uglier design because they nice design (old stock) does not have any sizers larger than 48 cm, or they've completely run out! Only the back part of it looks cute ahahaha.

  • Country Road Oxford Stripe Tote Navy.I got peer pressured into buying it ): They're overrated and I see people (esp. TB) using them at school or going out when they barely have anything in it! This should be a pretty good overnight bag though :E

  • Predeparture [ blog opening ]

This is the first time in a while since I've meddled with HTML!
I'm hopeless at making layouts and the such, so I've found this
adorable template to use (refer to links for credit).

Well, its also been a while since I've opened up a proper blog,
and it seems blogspot is my home for the meantime.

I hope to use this blog to post about my adventures in Japan,
when I actually head there on the 4th of December on the
AFS JENESYS scholarship program for two weeks.
Even though it's only for two weeks, I hope to experience many
things lol. Food, people, culture etc. I want to take heaps of
photos as well so I can share them when I come back!

I'm a little sad that I won't be able to label each archive under a
theme of category. I'm really lost as to how to use blogs haha.
(Thats what I get for not blogging in ages!)
I was contemplating on whether or not to use wordpress,
livejournal, blogspot or the Japanese ameblo. Well, looks like
I've settled for blogspot since the others are here lol.

Well, thats enough for me in the meantime. I've got piles of home-work to do *shakes fist at HSC work*.

More pre-departure musings of before I leave to japan will come soon!
