First time thrifting

Today I went thrifting/op shopping for the first time at the Anglican warehouse in Summer Hill!

I ended up with a cute black and white bag which cost $6. The black part of it was horrendously sticky (for some reason) though, so I had to give it a good scrub down with baby oil, detergent mixed with water... and I even added some baby powder for good measure to get rid of the greasy-ness afterwards!

April Gmarket Haul~

I am yet again amazed at how fast the gmarket order went - it only took a week from the time of ordering for the package to get to my house!

I was surprised at how small/light the box was! Well.. ever since my first order of 2012, which was a big and heavy box I've forgotten how it usually is haha!

This time I ordered 4 pieces of clothing for myself + a bunch of hair accessories and a jacket for friends. I'll only be reviewing the things I bought for myself because obviously I won't be opening my friend's :)

Now for the review! I've added the stock photo of the item and a picture of what it looks like irl. I've also modelled the items, which you'll find right at the end of the review.

This is so cute >A< I really like this blouse! The quality is surprisingly good for the price (around aud$15) and it's exactly as advertised. There are several other blouses from MakMaks that I want so I'll probably get those in the future :)

I got this knit in beige. This was really cheap too, a bit under aud$15. The quality is really good!! I was surprised because I was expecting worse. A similar knit where I live would easily cost over $50, so almost 3x the price on gmarket. I also expected this to be less baggy because the model is TINY and from the premium reviews I had a look at. I like the level of loose-ness of this so I'm very happy! This makes me want to get the mustard yellow version as well!

I was contemplating whether to get the yellow or red version. I'm glad I chose the red, but I still want the yellow version! I am really, really surprised at how good the quality of this skirt is - especially for the price, which was around aud$10! Cannot wait to wear this <3

I was eyeing this midi skirt for a month (or two?) and finally decided to get it! I also wanted the mustard yellow one (actually, I want all the colours!), but I settled for the light pink one. It is adorable, and exactly as advertised! The quality is good for the price though my photo doesn't do it justice! I was either going to get a maxi skirt or midi skirt, but I'm glad I settled for the midi skirt because I'm short and the maxi would have probably been too long for me! I cannot wait to wear this as well - it's a more conservative length, which I'm liking!

And~ Here are the four pieces I bought, modelled... Sorry for the dim lighting, I got the package early in the morning and had to wait till I came back from uni to do most of the photo-taking, plus all these photos were taken on my phone, hence the grainy quality!

This is by far my best gmarket haul yet! It's the first time that I've been really satisfied with all the pieces I purchased! I had spent ages (well, a month at least) looking at these pieces and deciding what to get. So, it does pays to think about what you need and want rather than chuck stuff in the cart on impulse :)

Wondering whether I should get a baseball/varsity jacket from gmarket or not... There are so many pretty colour combinations... I'm liking the grey+pink (below), black+grey, brown+pink and navy+white combinations.

Harhar, blogging neglect! Oh well, uni has been pretty busy for me. I absolutely cannot wait until the semester is over because I'm really looking forward to my study abroad in the latter of this year!

I've made another g-market order, which I shall post about/review later! I bought a really cute midi skirt (because I'm too short for the length of most maxi skirts) in light pink. So girly >A<

I've been trying to avoid buying anything black lately. I want a mustard coloured sweater/knit!

Oh gosh!! I really love the skirts from this seller, especially the mid-length chiffon pleated one. If only I wasn't on a shopping ban ;A;

2012 Gmarket Mini Haul

Was quite slow to blog this mini haul, but here goes!

The package once again, came early in the morning!

First up, I bought this adorable peter-pan collared dress. I'd been eyeing a similar one from romwe, but when I saw that I could get a very similar one on gmarket for 1/3 the price, I jumped at the chance! This only cost 9900 won because it was on special! Lucky!

I purchased the Navy coloured one from this seller. It appears they changed the stock images, so I was too slow to grab the stock image of the navy dress being adorably modelled.

This dress is a bit tight however, but I was lucky to be in the size range to fit it! I was reading through some of the reviews left on this seller's store about the dress and a lot of people complained about the tightness of the dress! My only complaint would have to be that the collar is not white or off-white in real life (which I would have preferred), rather a creamy yellow colour.

Next up, some hair accessories from this seller. There were so many cute things that I wanted to buy the whole store! Alas, if only I had the money!

I wanted some nice nail polishes (these are from peripera): green because I'm in the tea club at uni, a nice pink-ish beige as a staple and white to use as polka-dots =P They chucked in a free polish remover as well - bingo (my old one is running out!)

Some earrings. I wish these were half the size, then they'd be perfect. They're too big for my liking so I may re-sell them or give them away.

And finally, the Tony Moly egg pore series! I got the black-head removing oil and the tightening mask. I've only used them twice so far, but I haven't noticed any differences - my black heads remained. But - when I use the tightening mask, I can sure feel my skin tightening along with it! I guess I'll have to use it more regularly to see if it does indeed work or not (or maybe I'm just not using it properly). This product is worth a try since it isn't too expensive.

January Blues

Belated Happy New Year!

Although I've done nothing but procrastinate the past few months, it appears that it'll start getting busy for me from now on.

I'm going to do some volunteer work, at uni and at the Japan Foundation, I need to start organising the club's o-week affairs and re-registration (I can't wait until I pass my duties onto the next victim haha!), and I have a wedding to attend next week...

I've been doing *some* kanji study the past two days, so I'm doing something productive *at least*, no matter how little time I devote to it.

Which reminds me, I need to get some proofreading and translation work done for the two manga scanlation group I work with... Deadline tomorrow!

And I'm still anxiously waiting for notification about my exchange application, and also for the Sociology department to get back to me about this form I entrusted them with!!

And finally, Gmarket has yet again eaten another hole in my wallet. Okay, not really, I used my cash balance:half of the money won from being Top Blogger and the other half being left over from previous orders. Shipping always takes the biggest chunk out of the order >< Anticipating the dress in this haul! It's a navy coloured peter-pan collar dress, like that adorable one from romwe, except this is 1/3 the price! I know it was cheap, but I just hope it arrives just like the stock images (because if not, I wouldn't have minded coming up with the $35 or so dollars for the romwe one).

Boxing Day 2011

I went to the boxing day sales in the city today. Boy was it crowded!

I didn't go to the big department stores (Myer, DJs) because I never really find anything I like there. I had a look around here and there in Galleries Victoria, QVB and Westfields. I tried to make wise purchases (trying to cut down on impulse buys), and I think I did pretty well!

I couldn't end up finding most of the items I wanted from my "list", but I did end up with just a pair of pants and an eau de toilette (I needed a fragrance for summer) from L'Occitane ($42, marked down from $60ish)! It smells divine.

The sales overall, weren't that good (as usual!), especially if you compare them to the Black Friday sales over in America (you lucky bunch!). I've seen people post their hauls on the soompi forums and it makes me very jealous about how good the sales are over there >A

Hopefully the sale continues down the track... I need to buy some underwear and I still have that dress for a wedding dinner to buy (( =3=))

Dec 2012 Gmarket Haul!

The 4kg package came earlier this week.

First the cosmetics:

Dr Jart was really generous with the samples <3 I purchased 2 silver label bb creams (one for my mum, the other for my aunt).

I also decided to get a bb cream from Holika Holika to try out. From the reviews I've read, the colour of it is a tad light. I haven't opened it yet, but I hope that when I do try it, it will look okay on my skin.

I also ordered the adorable bunny gloss from Tony Moly. My friend who recently returned from her trip to Korea also bought a bunch of these. I think I'll get the other colours the next time I make an order on gmarket because they're just too adorable. I'm not one to wear make up daily (blame my general laziness and the fact that I see no point in getting all made up everyday for school) but I'm trying to start looking more presentable (my new year's resolution harhar) so this is a start! It's a nice peachy colour (pink with a tinge of orange).

Adorable much!? Here's a trick - if the item you want is out of stock (esp. if it is an accessory like below), check if the seller's other pages because they might have it there! That's what happened to me when I was trying to find the blue dotted hair band - one page had it out of stock, another didn't. Can't wait to wear these!

I also bought a diary for 2012 and a bunch of stickers from this seller: 하이델. They are simply adorable and I can't wait to use it and stick polaroid photos in it and make it all pretty and stuff >v<

Now onto serious business - the clothes! I ordered a bunch of blouses (I've been a really lazy dresser lately, so I needed shirts that look nice with jeans).

I accidentally ordered the wrong blouse though... I wanted the white one, but me being a bit careless, selected the wrong colour and forgot to double check (it was prolly sold out anyway). Yes. It's an odd purple colour. Actually it doesn't look too bad in this picture, but that's because of the lighting. In real life it looks much worse and unappealing lol. Still, why would they manufacture a shirt in such a colour! No one would want to buy it imo (though I accidentally did OTL)! My mum offered to take it from my hands though, because she said it didn't look bad on her when she tried it.

1) This was exactly as advertised. I like the gold buttons!

2) I bought this because of the detailing at the back. This too, was exactly as advertised. The length is good as well! Because the shape of the blouse is quite flowy and baggy, it doesn't really show one's figure.

3) Okay... This piece was wayyyyy bigger than I thought it would be. On the tiny woman that models it in the stock photo - it looked like a good size on her. But for me - who's probably shorter than her and some tubbier... Well... It's really baggy on me. It's almost unacceptably baggy. I'll try to work with it though. I think it'll look decent with skirt and stockings (contrary to the really bad outfit I wore it with above!).

4) Been searching for a striped shirt like this for ages!!! I finally found it and it was way cheap as well (around $10)!! The only thing that bugs me is the weird material. Well, it's not too weird, just different from how I imagined it to be/feel.

5) I quite like this shirt (I had expected worse, looking at the seller's ratings and user reviews/comments). I was a bit surprised though, that the colour was slightly darker and more brownish in real life compared to the slightly pink hued colour of the stock image. It's still cute nonetheless and makes me feel like a doll with the big collar XD This will be cute matched with a high waist skirt of shorts.

6) This is my favourite blouse out of the bunch. I like the cut, it's really flattering on me. It does not make me look fat like most blouses tend to!!

7) This blouse is really BIG!! Poo... And I really wanted this style of blouse ever since I saw it styled really prettily in a J-fashion magazine. But this - it's really unflattering on me... I wish that a lot of these blouses had better cuts! They look and fit great on the models, but for some reason, when I order them, they tend to end up really big and shapeless? I'll try to make it work though.

8) Yes... This shirt... of which I mistakenly ordered the wrong colour!! Please double check when you order so you know you're really getting the right colour/style >A

It kinda sucks when you live in the southern hemisphere, where the seasons are opposite from Korea, because that means there are barely any summer clothing available on the site! I wanted to purchase some nice high waisted and paperbag style shorts, chiffon pleat maxi skirts, etc. I guess I'll wait until they start stocking clothing for the spring season.
